ABSTRACT

The night before the sixth class of his Indian removal unit, Becker satat his desk, pondering the multiple-choice items that would appear on the assessment the next day. He needed approximately 15 items, although several fewer might do, but probably no more. He looked over the assessments that he had used in the past. But he possessed few items, largely because this was his first time teaching the unit and he was embarking on a close investigation of the Cherokee tribe’s experience alone. He needed to develop a fresh cluster.
