ABSTRACT

Many therapists would insist in these situations that the clients must talk about what has happened to them, as well as what they are currently experiencing. These clients must verbalize their pain and frustration in order to process issues and begin healing. Our experience, and the literature on sandtray therapy and play therapy (Landreth, Sweeney, Ray, Homeyer, & Glover, 2005), however, considers moving beyond this narrow position.
