ABSTRACT

In keeping with the core aim of this volume, this chapter will endeavour to apply some focussed insights from positive and contemporary psychology study to the topics of spa and wellness tourism. A particular kind of contribution is attempted. While other chapters in this volume have looked at character strengths and values as well as the concepts of ethics, time, fl ow and satisfaction, this chapter delineates a contribution from studies of motivation and emotion. A supplementary area of interest lies in a consideration of mind-body links and the psychological processes underlying some forms of health and well-being.
