This work is a detailed history of the United States Navy from its founding in 1775 until the early years of World War II. The second edition takes the period up to the end of World War II in Europe, in May 1945. Good coverage of the United States Navy in the SpanishAmerican War. Work contains numerous maps, black and white illustrations, bibliography, and index.
