ABSTRACT

E yeblinks are easily observable behavioral phenomena that people engage in every few seconds. They serve to cleanse and irrigate the eyes, spread-ing moisture as the lids close and reopen. People tend to blink much more often than the two to four times per minute necessary for this purpose alone, however (Doane, 1980; Evinger, 1995; Ponder & Kennedy, 1927). Rather, people blink for a variety of reasons.
