ABSTRACT
In these inaugural painting sessions the role of colour and form is not fundamental; they are merely an aspect of something bigger that he feels a part of. Nonetheless, his distinctive use of both colour and form has prompted numerous journalists and critics to pose the question: ‘What does it all mean?’, and Alsop has always had to disappoint by responding that he doesn’t know and, if he did, it wouldn’t matter to him too much.
