ABSTRACT
This chapter covers the use of story in personal and professional development. I have not distinguished clearly between personal and professional development because they overlap so much – professional development is a focused form of personal development. I have adopted headings that seem best to cover the material that I want to include and there are many links with other chapters. After reviewing some general issues that concern both title topics in an initial section, I give brief descriptions of some methods and ideas that are associated with professional development, mostly involving the group sharing of experience stories. I then provide some ideas about the use of story in reflective personal writing and learning journals (which may be a part of professional development).
