ABSTRACT

FOCUS This chapter presents a set of integrated, yet distinct methodologies for exploring self and context in relation to teaching and learning. Where chapters 1-5 provide

primarily theoretical bases for a personal orientation to teacher education with introductory exercises, illustrative narratives and supportive research, this chapter extends and refines those exercises and understandings through in-depth reflection and writing. A central idea in this chapter is that teacher learning is significantly informed by practices and methodologies of self and community inquiry. A major goal is acquiring the disposition to engage in systematic and persistent investigation into your own teaching and professional environments in order to address problems of practice and avenues of change.
