ABSTRACT

This chapter has two case studies situated within one local authority (Pluto), which had several sub-networks within a networked learning community (NLC). The first case study within this NLC is effectively three nested studies illustrating: leadership of a sub-network of the NLC, which focused on assessment for learning (AfL); coordination of a school’s AfL development; and the development of an individual, Sally, through these two roles. The second case study, of a school within this sub-network, focuses in particular on the different network activities of the headteacher and the LHTL school co-ordinator. These studies give us a view of an NLC ‘from the top’ and ‘from the bottom’.
