ABSTRACT
The development of modern society is not a story about war, conflict, and chaos. It is not about how individuals, groups, and countries fought endlessly with each other for the ownership of natural resources, as well as material and immaterial goods . . . If anything, the story of modern society is about large numbers of citizens cooperating with each other, trying to do something good for the welfare of their community and the broader society of which they are part.
