ABSTRACT

Th e traditional framework of college choice-the concept that students review options, apply to multiple colleges, and choose a college based on a rational analysis of options-applies to only a subset of students who go to college. Many students simply enroll in college by showing up, an option available in open admissions colleges. In Indiana, like students in other states, the transition to college for many involves enrolling in a local college without an extensive search (Hossler, Schmit, & Vesper, 1999).
