Incursion in the ‘bio-piracy’ debate: modern exploitation of biodiversity components of developing countries and community rights

Against the determinants of bio-piracy discussed in the first chapter, this chapter intends to analyse some allegedly claimed cases of bio-piracy in each of our study countries. The objectives of this exercise are at least threefold:

1. Analysing these cases of bio-piracy will help to ascertain whether they can be characterized and recognized in the determinants described earlier in the introductory chapter.
