ABSTRACT

The aim of this chapter was to model the relationship between overall school performance at age 16, as measured by grade-point average (GPA), and time to psychosis, using a survival analysis. The chapter is divided into three sections. In the ®rst section, I will describe the basic characteristics of the sample. In the next section, I will explore the crude relationship between school performance and psychosis, both overall and broken down by diagnosis. In the ®nal section, I will explore the association between potential confounders and school performance, in preparation for the next chapter, where confounding and interaction will be considered in greater detail.
