ABSTRACT
The first part gives a short overview of the general aspects of the patent system. Because the patent system as such is not the prime focus of the book, it is important to understand how the different parts interact in the whole patent system. It is only then that the results derived from theoretical models introduced in the second and the third parts can be meaningfully translated into realistic policy recommendations.
