ABSTRACT
This chapter continues the discussion of process improvement and employees’ process understanding that was started in Chapter 2, dealing here with companies using methods based on statistical ideas and techniques, to support automated manufacturing, in the form known as Statistical Process Control (SPC). The companies were characterised by the manufacture of low volume, high value products, where manual sampling of products for quality control checks was an essential part of the process.1
