ABSTRACT

Skwarczek was suggesting something other than the subjective nature of territorial divisions in the city. As he elaborated over subsequent pints of beer, Wicker Park signals an ethos of creativity and experi - mentation, one which his website-design shop shares regardless of what side of Ashland Avenue it is on. Still, if not “a place,” this ethos nevertheless derives from the activities of local artists-both the work of artistic production and an artistic style of life-though apparently it is expansive enough to encompass other things as well.
