ABSTRACT

As children move through the primary years teachers hope that they become hooked on books and eager to tackle and persevere with longer stories. How do we help children build this desirable reading stamina? First and foremost it is a matter of provision and so the following chapters look at some appealing longer stories for class and school libraries. But don’t forget to search your memory for stories you enjoyed and keep reading new stories for children to extend the repertoire from which you choose.
