ABSTRACT
This chapter will emphasize the importance of applying specifi c principles to teaching mathematics. The ideas will help overcome children’s difficulties, leading to successful learning in mathematics. The nature of mathematics is such that if you miss or don’t fully understand the starting point, later learning can be difficult. Teaching and learning also rely on words, adding to the complexity of mathematics for teacher and child.
