ABSTRACT
In view of the loss of vigour of traditional socialist ideas, and the rising popularity of social and cultural criticism only loosely related to the contents of the original socialist utopia, can one still cover such disparate phenomena with a single term? Can one assume the continuity of a socialist faith extending over two centuries and reaching the world of today?
