One of the best ways of understanding the processes involved in the film industry is to attempt some form of production yourself. The production of a script, a piece of moving image, or a documentary step outline brings with it an awareness of the complex tensions involved in making meaning, and gives the opportunity to apply all the filmic study you have carried out up to this point.
