ABSTRACT
FM4 has been designed as a synoptic unit, in which learning from other units of the course (both at A2 and AS) is revisited, and in which it is applied to new areas of study. Skills developed in FM1 Exploring Film Form, for example, where textual analysis skills are used to explore individual sequences, will be invaluable when approaching study at FM4, as would the knowledge of an industrial context gained from FM2 British and American Film. This synoptic approach is one that further develops previously attained skills, and one that develops confidence in existing knowledge and skills, through encouraging their broader application.
