ABSTRACT

Single Film – Critical Study offers an opportunity to explore one of a number of set films through close analysis of both text and context, and by synoptically bringing to bear any previous learning developed through the study of film. The macro and micro aspects of film form from FM1 (see AS Film Studies: the Essential Introduction) will be a starting point to explore the film language and styles adopted in these films, and consideration of the approaches to making meaning employed by the filmmakers will prove a valuable vein to mine. The contextual study of these films will encourage the consolidation of the work carried out in FM2 and (most likely) in FM3.
