I N the summer of 1982, media attention was focused on Israel'swar in Lebanon. Coverage of the war provoked vigorous andwidespread reactions-the growing list stands here at twenty articles and studies-to what was perceived to be biased and imbalanced reporting. Repeatedly, the critics concluded that Israel was treated unfairly in media coverage, which failed the tests of objectivity, balance, and context.
