ABSTRACT

PEOPLE have basic needs of affection, inclusion, and control. These needs are met primarily through social interaction. With this interaction may also come social acknowledgment and confirmation. The establishment of reference groups is another part consumating a person’s reality and is provided for through regular interaction with certain other people. This sense of community is an important component in providing a sense of belonging or security. Interpersonal associations give people a feeling of stability, even if they involve only periodic contacts.
