S heldon Danziger, who has served as director of poverty research centers at both the University of Wisconsin and the University of Michigan, once lamented, “So much social science, so little policy impact” (2001). But is his pessimistic assertion really true? Aren’t there examples where research and analysis have successfully been brought to the attention of policymakers?
