ABSTRACT

Wasaga Beach, Ontario:1 the longest fresh-water beach in the world. It’s the end of a clear day in June, and our young entrepreneur strolls off of the pavement to feel the sand. Looking to the west, the sun is still high enough to sting his eyes. A short distance to the east, he sees the object of his journey: a single hot dog stand servicing the entire beach. He compliments himself on doing his homework. He has found a location where only one potential competitor existed. He can expand his network of carts to this beach and be only the second cart along the whole beach. While he manages seven hot dog vending carts in Toronto, this will be his first venture out of the big city.2
