ABSTRACT

An interesting survey, Women and Teaching,* was recently made among nearly 6,000 women teachers who were not teaching in March, 1960. The women belonged to three different age groups: those who began teaching shortly before the War; those who began soon afterwards; and those who began some five years after that: and among the women questioned were trained and untrained graduates as well as non-graduate teachers. The survey confirmed a previously expressed opinion that more teachers are marrying than ever before; that they are marrying younger and having larger families.
