ABSTRACT
In March 1999, I accompanied a small group of University of California, Los Angeles graduate students to San Diego and Tijuana for a one-day tour of that
small section of the U.S.–Mexico border region. As part of the day’s activities, we visited with the United States Border Patrol in San Diego. Our host was a Border Patrol agent by the name of George Reyes.1
