ABSTRACT
We live, it is said, in a learning society, where individuals continually need to reassess the appropriateness of what they know in order to survive and get a job. Just as in the past it was the changes in technology and technique that determined how people adapted their jobs, be it techniques in agriculture or industrial production, today the emphasis is more directly on applications of new knowledge and insights.
