There will always be pressure from landowners and politicians to keep historic centres alive and those with quality are likely to remain popular with the public as well as with tourists. In the City of London, its business centre, for example, many foreign banks still prefer to build their headquarters there, rather than go to London's Canary Wharf. This is due partly to tradition, as well as the fact that it is closer to where its executives want to live.
