ABSTRACT

In order to ascertain the comfort characteristic of natural ventilation in summer, breeze sensing tests in two grades were done and the fluctuations of air movement near threshold values were taken into consideration. Ventilation and air-conditioning were compared. The breeze sensing data of ventilation were quite reliable, as about 80% of the subjects could answer clearly whether they sensed or not. For all experimental conditions, the response about the level of the frequency of breeze sensation reflected the ratio of the time of awareness more than the frequency of awareness. The ratio was not correlated with the responses on thermal or comfort sensation, but it was correlated with the responses on change of thermal or comfort sensation due to breeze.
