ABSTRACT
Our evidence shows the period from broadly 9 to 13 years to constitute the time of greatest development in moral judgement. This climacteric period would, therefore, be the most creative for direct moral education. During these middle school years much may be done positively to help development towards personal autonomy, and negatively to avoid those limitations and misunderstandings that tend to cement children in lower levels.
