ABSTRACT
Framing the Questions: An Interview with Laura Briggs, conducted by Rachel Mattson Laura Briggs received her PhD from Brown University’s Department of American Civilization and is currently an Associate Professor of Women’s Studies at the University of Arizona. She also holds a‰liate appointments in History, Anthropology, and Latin American Studies. Briggs is the author of Reproducing Empire: Race, Sex, Science, and U.S. Imperialism in Puerto Rico in which Briggs argues that Puerto Rico provides the perfect lens through which to examine the history of U.S. imperialism because it has been a place where, for over a century, the United States has developed its approach to expansionism. Briggs is now currently working on a book on transnational and transracial adoption.
