ABSTRACT

The de®ning characteristic of the young people in this pathway was that their period of homelessness was comparatively brief. Hence their experiences of homelessness were less varied than those in the other pathways. Another signi®cant point of contrast between the experiences of the young people in the going home pathway and most of those in the other three pathways was that over half maintained positive contact with a member of their family or extended family. This provided them with support during their period of homelessness and also increased the likelihood of them being accommodated within the wider family in the future.
