ABSTRACT

Whether homeless from necessity or by choice, life on the streets entailed similar experiences for the ®ve young people in this pathway. Even so, the differences between Kimberley's and Ben's reasons for becoming homeless, their seeking of independence, and Kayla's, Craig's and Jamie's ¯ight from abuse in¯uenced the way they interpreted their experiences of homelessness. What follows is a discussion of those experiences, the common elements as well as the different attitudes the young people brought to them, and the understandings they took away.
