And so they moved on, from schools that failed to engage them or that tended to feel they’d coped if they managed to contain them or maybe offered a bit of sympathy and support along the way, into the college system. The lucky ones had a parent or relative qualified to give advice; most did not. The rest, for the most part, clung to what their friends had to say in the absence of informed or targeted guidance from school or the Connexions service.
