ABSTRACT

Once a couple is prepared to join a group-as well as to participate in individual, couples, or family therapy once every 3 weeks or more throughout the life of the group-the couple has agreed to a structure that will enable changes to happen within each member, between partners, and for the group as a whole. The agreement to become part of this group of couples is a bit like beginning regular, rhythmic, aerobic exercise as part of a weight-loss program. Although countless diets are on the market, nothing assures success more than a combined and regular approach to physical exercise as part of an approach to healthy living. Similarly, couples benefit from a carefully integrated package of therapeutic modalities.
