ABSTRACT
The rule of law is a concept regularly invoked by lawyers and politicians without offering any explanation as to the meaning to be given to it. This is problematic in that it is a concept that is capable of several very different meanings. In this chapter we shall explore some of these meanings and assess the significance of the rule of law to the UK Constitution.
