ABSTRACT
As their young children’s first teachers, parents play a vital role in their children’s lives and in their preparation for formal schooling. It is important that schools view parents, the home, and community as resources in support of children’s transition to and success in the school setting. This is especially relevant in schools with large populations of culturally and linguistically diverse children, who are the focus of this book.
