ABSTRACT

A few days after moving into a brand-new office building in Port Washington, New York, more than half of almost 200 Itel employees were feeling ill. This mysterious illness consisted of headache, eye irritation, drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and throat irritation. Because of fears that these symptoms might be signs of Legionnaire's disease or some other mysterious ailment, the Itel workers moved into nearby trailers while a team of epidemiologists investigated. 1
