ABSTRACT
They say that ‘truth, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder’. What do you think? But wait! – before you start thinking, let me admit that I’m trying to trick you again. Notice I began with ‘they say’, which is a commonly used phrase but actually is pretty meaningless. Who on Earth are ‘they’? It’s a vague generalisation and I’ll have more to say about it later (for instance, in Going after the meaning (Module 24)).
