CLASSIFICATION OF OFFENCES (see p 31) From May 2007, the Ministry of Justice has taken over some of the Home Office’s responsibilities for the Criminal Justice system, such as sentencing policy. The MOJ is also responsible for both civil and criminal courts. The Home Office retains many of its existing responsibilities, such as policing and overall crime reduction.
