ABSTRACT
In his `Minimal basic science curriculum for clinical membership in the ITAA', Berne (ITAA Education Committee, 1969) explicitly stated that TA psychotherapists must have a basic grounding in psychoanalytic theory. Indeed, most of Berne's writings assume the reader has a degree of familiarity with psychoanalytic theory. In Berne's early writing he referred to both deconfusion of Child ego states and script cure in psychoanalytic terms.
