ABSTRACT

One of the drawbacks to printing money is that it represents potential consumption. There is a thirst for money that has permeated all parts of our society, where confusion takes place between the pursuit of money and the pursuit of wealth. Popular music and culture uses currency symbols to represent power over other people and money is seen by many to be a panacea for problems. There is little doubt that possessing money solves many of life’s trifles, but it still represents what could be rather than what is. It is difficult to convince children, especially teenagers, that money is simply a representation of consumption and not consumption itself.
