‘Women’s films’

Introduction ‘Social films’ which deal with women’s issues to do with patriarchal domination such as divorce or polygamy are referred to by some as filmha-ye zananeh or ‘women’s films’. These films are political for the challenge they pose to patriarchal values and institutions in society, and consequently such films are subject to conflicting negotiations of gender identities and relations.
