Once it has been established that an invention consists of patentable subject matter, before a patent may be granted, it must also be determined whether that invention is new, has inventive step, is industrially applicable and has been sufficiently disclosed in the application. If a patent has been granted in breach of any of these criteria it may subsequently be revoked (see 6.4.2).
