ABSTRACT
Hobbes was an uncompromising materialist, mechanist, and determinist. As a materialist, he believed that the only thing that existed was matter. As a mechanist, he believed that all causes operated by one object coming into contact with another object. As a determinist, he believed that every event has a moving cause that determines the effect. Each of these points will be discussed in more detail below, from p. 24 to p. 35.
