ABSTRACT

Life in the teaching profession is many things. It is invigorating, exciting, challenging, rewarding and sometimes exhausting. How to establish and maintain a work/life balance is arguably the most useful skill that teachers will acquire throughout their teaching career. This chapter explores how best to do this so that teachers thrive in both their personal and working lives. There has been a strong focus on teacher workload and the bureaucratic burden facing teachers. Several initiatives and documents have been produced by the Department for Schools, Children, and Families in order to assist schools in protecting teachers' work/life balance. Few professions rely on effective time management and awareness quite as much as teaching. The Teacher Support Line is being widely used to discuss stress, anxiety and depression, and conflicts with managers or colleagues, among other issues. There are several ways that teachers can use food to create health.
