ABSTRACT

Drama is essentially a creative subject that relies heavily on your imagination and experiences. Inevitably, the examination process can be seen as confining that creativity. However, what examination drama does give is credibility to a subject which has been around in schools as an educational medium for over fifty years but which has sometimes been seen as something of a ‘Cinderella’ subject in terms of funding and recognition. This is changing rapidly in the current climate as drama is becoming recognised by employers as one of the most useful subjects to have, be it at A Level or degree level. The extract below is taken from a recent edition of the University of Central Lancashire’s prospectus:
