ABSTRACT

The aims of this chapter are to discuss the research findings and their relationship to the relevant existing theories described in Chapter 2. One of the major findings of the previous chapters is that three important factors have impacted on the reform of ER in Vietnam during Doi moi. There are interactions between globalization and elements at the national level, between government and enterprises, and between globalization and enterprises. Both globalization and government influence the enterprises in their reform process. However, the impact is not unidirectional. Instead, each of the three forces stands at one point of a triangle, influencing – and being influenced by – the others in a series of compromises.
